I have said
a number of times that the Talley Trio
is one of my favorite groups. I
love the harmony from this group and
their talent is incredible. Their
latest project is a great one that
celebrates some of their musical
influences over the years and they even
invite some them to join the group on
the project!
"God Is
Great Good And Merciful" is an old song
that Roger's parents sang for years in
local churches and the Talley Trio put
the song on this project to honor them.
The song is an upbeat song that Roger,
Debra and Lauren do an outstanding job
on. "True Love Has No Limits" is
the next song and this song reminds us
that the Love of God has no limits.
"Paramount Love" is the first song to
welcome a special guest. Connie
Hopper of the Hoppers lends her voice to
this song. Both Roger and Debra
spent time with the Hoppers. This
song about God's Love is great and, of
course, we always love to hear Connie
Hopper sing!
"The Broken
Ones" is the first single released from
the project and the message is great!
It reminds us that God has called each
of us to minister to the broken people
of our society. The next track on
the project is an upbeat one! It
is an old song recorded by the Imperials
a number of years ago. "That's
Enough" is a great song in it's own
right but through the miracle of
technology the Talley Trio is joined by
the late Jake Hess on this song.
You will enjoy hearing Jake's voice
again and, of course, the Talley Trio
always does a great job on songs like
this one. "We Who Come Behind"
slows things down quite a bit and this
song is all about honoring the people in
our past. Those people who have
served the Lord, not only in music but
even Sunday School Teachers, Pastors and
other people who worked for the Lord for
so many years. "I Think To Much Of
Her" is the next song and it's a
touching song performed by Debra and
Lauren. The message is great and
you will enjoy it.
"I Don't
Understand It But It Does" is a unique
song reminding us that we don't
understand how God works but no matter
what He does, it works! It's a
unique idea for a song and a very good
message. Another special guest is
back on the next song and this is the
only guest I didn't know. Her name
is Marcy Kelsey Beckett and I later
found out through an interview with the
Talley Trio that she was in the very
first group that Debra was in. She
is now in her late 70's but she can flat
out sing! She sings the great
Dottie Rambo song "Too Much To Gain To
Lose." The final song on the
project is "Preach" and it also features
John Hagee. Dr. Hagee is not
singing but sharing some scriptures.
The song reminds us that we should all
preach everyday and we should preach the
life changing message of Christ!
The Talley
Trio are immensely talented! That
is not exactly a news flash. This
project is a great walk with Roger,
Debra and Lauren as they trace some
their musical roots and invite back some
of their heroes. Roger Talley
produced it and he is one of the best in
the business. The song selection
is outstanding and, of course, the vocal
performances are as close to perfect as
you will experience on earth. My
favorites songs from the project are
"That's Enough," "Too Much To Gain To
Lose" and "We Who Come Behind."
There is an added bonus with a behind
the scenes DVD included with the project
as well. The bottom line is that
this project is another in a long line
of quality projects from this top group.
