Wow!
I have been a long time updating my column! I guess
life has taken over these days and time becomes more and
more precious. Abigail told me that I better get a
new column out there soon or there were going to be rumors
of my demise! No reason for those rumors! I am
still here and still fully involved in working with the
Southern Gospel Music Forum and SG Business Group.
When I
first started designing websites I never dreamed in my
wildest imaginations that I would be involved in something
the size of SG Business Group! We design websites
for several artists and promoters and own several of our
own websites. We own an online store, this website,
websites providing ecommerce services, a website providing
guestbook services, websites specializing in Southern
Gospel Music in the Northeast and an online radio station.
God has certainly blessed us in a number of ways.
I had
someone ask me just the other day if I had envisioned this
happening. I thought about it and, of course, I had
to say no. Although, after giving it a little more
thought, I realized that God was fulfilling some of my
dreams and His Plans from when I was younger. Like
most kids growing up I had dreams! At one time I
wanted to play third base for the Yankees. There was
a talent problem there! Then, I wanted to be a
professional golfer. Another talent problem!
Around the age of thirteen, I began to discover business
and in particular Investment Banking (I didn't know it was
called that then). God allowed me to eventually make
my living in that field and I am so blessed that He did.
However, I also developed an interest in starting
companies and the inner workings of that. I always
imagined that it would be great to own a Christian Music
Store and/or a Gospel Music Radio Station. The
internet had not been invented yet so I certainly never
saw this coming at that time and certainly never realized
that God was making that calling on my life at that time!
However, I realize now that God has blessed me once again
by giving me the desires of my very young heart! He
waited a few years to do it but once again, I am blessed
that He did!
I say all
of this to say ... be patient! Society today leans
toward the concept of wanting something and getting it
now! That concept might be the number one cause of
the debt crisis facing America today. It took me
years to achieve those dreams that I had. What I
realize now is that God was directing my path all the way
here! I would never have been able to manage the
stress and such of a job in Investment Banking when I was
younger. God led me down a path where I joined that
industry at the age of 35 after working in several other
industries. I have enjoyed every minute of it!
I was in my early 30's when I got involved in the Southern
Gospel Industry after being a fan my entire life.
Again, I never would have had the knowledge to be
successful in either of these when I was younger.
So, as you can see, there was a long period of time
between God revealing what He wanted me to do and actually
allowing me to do it!
I should
also say that God put many people in my life to help
facilitate His Plan for my life. There are important
people in my personal life, my professional life and my
Southern Gospel life. Some have been here for the
entire journey. Others were here only for a season
but all have had an important role in the development of
God's Will for my life. Also, none of this has been
accomplished without a lot of work and dedication on my
part. I believed that God wanted me to accomplish
these things and that it was His Will for my life so I
assumed He wanted me to get the knowledge to be the best
at them that I could be!
So, if you
feel as though God has called you to do accomplish
something but nothing seems to be happening to that
result, don't despair! God works in His time and you
just need to be patient and wait on Him. Seek His
Will and you will see that He might just fulfill all of
the desires of your heart. Look at me ... I'm living
proof!
Until
next time!
God Bless,
