I have followed Rick Strickland's career for several years now. Most of you probably know that he is a talented tenor singer. I first remember him with the Kingdom Heirs and then with JD Sumner and the Stamps. Currently, he is doing solo work. Rick's solo project is an awesome effort that will be enjoyed for many years to come.
Many of the songs on the project will be familiar to the listener. "I Will Worship You" sets the tone for the project as it puts the listener in a worshipful spirit. "Look Up High" is a great song written by Kirk Talley that reminds us to keep on looking for Christ's Return! The next song on the project was one of my mom's favorite songs and I too love "Build My Mansion." Rick does a great job singing the song. "Jesus Saves" is an old song that I always enjoy hearing. Rick is joined by Mary Ann Oglesby on this song and they blend their voices beautifully.
"I Can See Heaven" reminds us what a beautiful place Heaven will be. The next song is a song that has made inroads into Southern Gospel Music over the past few years. "Go Rest High On That Mountain" has an almost haunting melody that is set to some beautiful lyrics. Rick does an outstanding job on this song. The next song is an old Cathedral classic and you can never go wrong recording "Step Into The Water."
Mary Ann Oglesby is back to join Rick on the "There Is A Fountain Medley." Once again, the result is fantastic. One of my favorite old, fast songs is "House Of Gold." Rick does a great job singing this great tune. The next song is a fast paced song titled "Good Things." This familiar song is done very well by Rick. The final song on the project is an all time favorite of mine written by Ray Boltz. "The Anchor Holds" is a great song of encouragment and Rick delivers it to perfection.
I am sure that you don't need me to tell you that Rick Strickland is a talented tenor singer. This project is a great collection of familiar songs that Rick sings to perfection. The production is good on the project and it will bless you time and time again. My favorite songs were tough to pick but I finally came up with "The Anchor Holds," "Build My Mansion" and "House Of Gold." Rick has a very good project here and I encourage to get a copy if you like great Southern Gospel Tenor singing!
