I have mentioned in reviews before that I absolutely love a good female soloist! I have found a new one to me in Tara Jackson. Her latest project is self titled and it is a winning combination of great songs and great performances!
"God's Got A Word For You" is a wonderful song to start the project with! It's an upbeat song that reminds us that God can and will help all of His Children through any situation. "Wonder Working Power" is a song that is all about the power in God's Blood. I love the song and the message of it. The next song is a song that has been around Southern Gospel Music for a few years now but Tara's version of "Except For Grace" is as good as any previous version of this song that I have heard.
"Lift Up Your Eyes" picks up the pace once again and Tara seems to handle the fast paced songs very well. "Ask Of Me" is an awesome ballad reminding us that even though sometimes we don't know how or what to ask God for, He will always lead us if we simply ask Him to. "He Knows My Name" is a great reminder of the personal relationship that every Christian can have with Christ. Chris Binion and Jerry Kelso combined to write the next song and I think it is one of the best on the recording! "Testify" is the name of the song and it is all about praising God!
"In Christ Alone (My Hope Is Found)" seems to be getting more and more popular in Southern Gospel Music and the beautiful melody does hold a great truth. The next song is a plea to "Pray For America." The song has a message reminding us to pray for the great country that so many of us live in. The final song on the project is "Redeemer." It's another great performance from Tara.
Tara Jackson is very talented but talent alone doesn't make a great project! This project also has 10 very good songs with several of them being exceptional. The project is also well produced and the instrumentation is also very good. Add all of that to some fantastic vocal performances from Tara and you have a great project! My favorite songs from the project are "Testify," "God's Got A Word For You" and "Ask Of Me." The only thing I am left to wonder is why it took us so long to discover this great talent.
